Sustainable Citizenry Initiative is a youth-led, research-based advocacy non-profit organization based in Eastern Province, Zambia. Sustainable Citizenry Initiative uses participatory approaches to understand the challenges facing communities and hindering sustainable development, while working with communities to identify and implement locally driven solutions to address these challenges. Our main aim is to create awareness and a sense of urgency around pressing environmental issues while improving livelihoods and strengthening community resilience. We seek to advance sustainable solutions to the triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss, particularly in underserved communities. Our work focuses on empowering communities to take locally led action in areas such as biodiversity conservation, climate action, a just energy transition, and community-led policy development. Through research, advocacy, community engagement, and capacity building, we support solutions that can contribute to improved livelihoods, healthier environments, and more sustainable communities.
